1. Stop eating 3 times per day and start eating 5 times per day.

Your body will store whatever is does not need at any given moment, so by eating only 3 times per day there will times when what you have consumed is not going towards helping your body perform. If you increase the times that you eat each day from 3 to 5, you will help keep your metabolism running at a higher rate though out the day. And the higher your metabolism the more calories you will burn, and the more weight you will lose.     

Have a lite breakfast, then a piece of fresh fruit for a mid-morning snack, then eat a sensible lunch followed by a mid-afternoon snack of yogurt or fresh fruit or vegetables and always eat a healthy dinner. Keep in mind that we are just eating the same amount of food each day and breaking it up into smaller portions, we are not adding more food to our daily diet.

2. Put down the soda and grab some fruit juice or flavored water.

Drinking a soda does nothing for our health, they are high in sugar and low in nutritional value. But a glass of 100% fruit juice or water is healthy and helps keep us hydrated.

4. Get the proper amount of physical exercise.

Join you local gym, set up exercise appointments with your friends to play some basketball. Take a walk or jog, spend 30 minutes doing something active and healthy. It is recommended that we exercise at least three times per week for a minimum of 30 minutes each time.

Snacks that are fried in hydrogenated oils like potato chips really do not offer anything in the way of health, they mostly offer fat and calories and not to much else. Grad a handful of unsalted nuts, a cup of dried fruit, or a cup of fat free yogurt and get the same amount of calories but a whole lot more nutritional value. Being from the South I really love all the fried seafood dishes that are available, but even I have to push away from the table when these types of foods are on the menu.
