			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A question on many people’s minds is “what makes a good vegetarian diet.”  There are a lot of reasons one might choose to be vegetarian, some very different from others.  Regardless of what your reasons are, there are a lot of great and healthy foods available.</p>
<p>A lot of vegetarians find it difficult to find good food in an American culture because there is such an abundance of meat.  Some meat eaters feel that this is no problem because the meat products can easily be “picked” out of foods.  However, it is very often the case that meat products will be unthinkingly added to foods for flavor.  It is not easy to “pick” these meats out.  In fact, it is rarely the case that the meat in foods are easily removed, and doing so can often leave the food bland and unappetizing if the meat was a major ingredient.     <span id="more-374"></span></p>
<p>Contrary to popular belief, a vegetarian is not limited to salads.  There are many different types of vegetarians as well.  Semi-vegetarians avoid only red meats, but will eat fish and poultry.  Lacto-vegetarians will eat no meat, but will eat eggs.  And vegans (or “total-vegetarians”) will eat only plant-based foods.  In each case, a regular diet will be different, but even vegans are able to enjoy a variety of foods.</p>
<p>Vegetarian diets tend to be healthy since they are devoid of many high-cholesterol and high-fat meat products.  Vegetarians tend to have lower risks of high blood pressure, heart disease, and obesity; although, this does not mean that every vegetarian diet is automatically healthy.  There are plenty of foods that are vegetarian which can also contain high levels of fats and cholesterol.</p>
<p>Vegetarians must also be cautious about getting all of the nutrients they need.  Since many do not eat any meat or dairy products, it can be difficult to achieve proper amounts of protein.  Plant proteins can be substituted for meats and dairy based proteins as long as the sources are varied and enough calories are being consumed to meet daily energy needs.  The same holds true for iron, which is abundant in red meat, eggs, and liver.  Dried fruits, spinach, and dried beans are examples of good, plant based sources of iron.</p>
<p>Though vegetarians who do not consume dairy products may find it more difficult to obtain proper amounts of calcium, studies have shown that vegetarians are better able to absorb the nutrient than nonvegetarians.  Though the reason for this is still unsure, it is something that vegetarians should take advantage of.  Some good sources of calcium for vegetarians are spinach, broccoli, and some legumes and soybean products.</p>
<p>Becoming vegetarian is not always an easy choice at first; however, it does not have to be a limiting choice.  With such a wide array of healthy, nutritious, and delicious foods available, there is no reason to rely on the same foods in your diet.  Like with any nutritional diet, be sure to vary your meals so that you receive the nutrients you need from a variety of sources.

<p>If you find yourself having trouble getting to sleep, it may be in part due to what you do just before bedtime. Engaging in relaxing activities like reading, listening to soothing music, and doing yoga or some form of stretching can effectively relax the mind and body. Watching TV might help, but TV can stimulate the mind and make falling asleep more difficult. It is important to avoid activities that remind you of stress or work so that you can relax your mind and prepare it for sleep this probably means getting off the computer.    </p>
<p>Another thing is that you should try not to eat or drink anything (except water) two hours before bed. Eating and drinking will either energize you and make you feel more awake or it will convert to stored energy in fat if you do go to bed soon after. Caffeine and nicotine are stimulants, both that make the mind more alert, so avoiding these things in the evening is a good idea if you want to fall asleep easily. Although alcohol is a depressant and can help you get to sleep, chances are that it will make you wake up later on in the night and you may have difficulty going back to sleep after that. Alcohol can also cause dependency, even if taken regularly in small amounts, and then falling asleep without drinking can become harder to do.</p>
<p>Exercise during the day improves sleep at night. Exercise can help your mind and body feel the need to sleep and it can get you back into a routine of sleeping well. Because many jobs require people to be indoors, internal circadian rhythms can be thrown off. Physical outdoor activity can help restore this. Instead of taking naps during the day, which will detract from the more important night sleep, go to bed earlier and sleep primarily during the night.</p>
<p>If your sleep environment is not comfortable, you will not sleep as well as you could. This seems obvious but it is often overlooked. There are subtle ways of improving a sleep environment: try aromatherapy with candles or incense, make sure the mattress and sheets you sleep on are comfortable, and make the room you sleep in cool, dark, and quiet.</p>
<p>Sleep is a natural thing to the body, so do not think that pills or drugs are necessary to sleep better. If you want to improve your mood and productivity and if you want to get sick less often, finding ways to sleep better is a wonderful solution.

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It seems there are as many red teas as there are shades of red.  There’s red tea from the Rooibus plant, cultivated in South Africa.  Some cultures call black tea red tea because of its crimson color.  There are also many kinds of Chinese red tea.  Similar in origin and location, Honeybush tea, another kind of red tea also from South Africa and harvested in the mountains of South Africa from the beautiful bright yellow flowers of the Cyclopia intermedia and subternata shrub.</p>
<p>Honeybush red tea is unique in its flavor as well as its health promoting properties.  It gets its name because it is mildly sweet and aromatic, like honey.  Like the Rooibus it can only be grown in the unique climate, soil and terrain of the part of the coast of South African surrounded by mountain ranges.  The tea can only be harvested in the earlier part of fall or the later part of spring, when the plant flowers.     <span id="more-358"></span></p>
<p>Like Rooibus red tea, Honeybush red tea is actually not a tea.  It is an herbal infusion or a tisane made from the flowers of a plant rather than its leaves.  As a result, honeybush red tea is not caffeinated making it a good choice for a soothing hot beverage before bedtime.  It’s also low in tannins, which gives some teas an astringent stronger flavor.</p>
<p>Honeybush red tea has a wealth of health promoting properties.  For one, Honeybush red tea contains a substance called Pinitol, similar to that found in pine trees.  Pinitol is a natural expectorant.  An expectorant is particularly valuable in treating chest congestion.  It helps loosen the mucus in the lungs, making it easier to expel, making your cough more productive, helping the immune system efficiently rid the body of the cause of the congestion.  Pinitol also acts as a bronchodilator that is key in relieving the symptoms of asthma.  Pinitol also lowers blood sugar making it a potentially significant treatment of Diabetes as it may increase the effects of insulin.</p>
<p>Other unique properties contained in Honeybush red tea are coumestans and.  These are classified as phytoestrogens and, like those found in soy, are plant compounds best known for easing the symptoms of menopause.</p>
